Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. An opportunity is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support communication access in an educational setting. This role involves working closely with students and staff who are deaf or hard of hearing, facilitating effective communication to enhance learning experiences. Key Responsibilities: Provide accurate and expressive sign language interpretation during classroom instruction, meetings, and school events. Collaborate with teachers, students, and families to ensure communication needs are met. Maintain confidentiality and uphold professional standards of interpreting. Travel to various school locations within the region as required to support multiple classrooms or events. Assist with communication in both group and one-on-one settings. Preferred Qualifications and Experience: Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated interpreting skills. Experience working in educational environments preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage travel responsibilities efficiently. Certification in sign language interpretation is a plus. Location: Bridgeport, CT, with travel to nearby schools as dictated by assignment schedules.
