Swagelok North Carolina - East Tennessee provides critical fluid system products, assemblies, training and services to customers in power, chemical, biopharmaceutical, R&D, transportation, and semiconductor industries. We are the independently owned and authorized sales and service center for Swagelok-- fluid system solutions in North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, supported by over 70 years of Swagelok manufacturing and distribution expertise.Position Summary:The Sales Engineer is a professional outside Industrial sales role meeting face-to-face with existing and prospective customers. This position is responsible for sales of fluid system components, custom solutions (fabrication & light assembly for customer), and related services to business and industrial facilities, as well as individuals within factories, plants, universities, or other locations. Key to success in this role will be to identify new sales or substantial growth opportunities and earn customer specifications or contracts for current and future projects. In addition, the Sales Engineer will develop relationships with contractors and Architectural & Engineering (A&E) firms to maintain existing and grow new business. The ideal candidate will have achievement focus, consultative sales approach, excellent communication and presentation skills, outstanding customer service and mechanical aptitude. The Sales Engineer will only support assigned customers AND other customers within Swagelok North Carolina - East Tennessee's Sales territory in regards to Field Services, Engineering & Training support.Key Responsibilities:Account Management & Business Development Responsibilities (Percentage of Time: 60%) - #1 Job Priority----------------Increase business at current key accounts.----------------Develop and capitalize on new business opportunities and build key customer relationships.------------------Identify new sales or substantial growth opportunities and earn customer specifications or contracts for current and future projects. As projects develop, coordinate with appropriate Sales Representative to ensure ongoing success of projects and relationship.----------------Investigation of new or existing business for determination of its potential and appropriate sales coverage approach to achieve maximum Sales & Customer Experience (North Carolina Service Area)----------------Develop relationships with contractors, as well as with Architectural & Engineering (A&E) firms, to secure ongoing business. Visit these to provide training for awareness and education purposes.------------------Assist with filling the sales funnel through lead discovery and large opportunity development, in collaboration with Marketing & Communications, our Sales Analyst, Inside Sales, Outside Sales, and CSR associates.--------------Collaborate with Sales Leader to develop and execute a sales plan to achieve targeted revenue growth, and targeted sales of strategic productsBe innovative in the use of social media, websites, industry publications, etc. to uncover data that can be mined for potential opportunities. Identify and attend industry events for networking.Position Swagelok as the customer's preferred supplier leading to profitable revenue growth.Field Engineer (Percentage of Time: 30%) # 2 Job Priority------Provide technical training and support to distributor associates and customers------Provide technical support and solutions to customers with pain points------Conduct Swagelok services at customer siteso----Essentials Trainingo----HAS (Hose Advisory Services)o----Energy Management Programo----Strategic Steam Surveyso----Custom Solutions SalesOngoing Responsibilities (Percentage of Time: approximately 10%)----------------Develop and maintain product knowledge, relationship building and professional business development and sales techniques----------------Active engagement with continuous improvement education & training and professional/personal development in alignment with company programs----------------Assist with all other duties assigned----------------Work to develop skill sets similar to a Swagelok Trained Field EngineerPosition Requirements:----------------Education:--Engineering Degree (mechanical, chemical, or fluid technology) or Mechanical Technical Degree----------------0-3 years of sales experience; relevant professional experience such as an internship is a strong advantageComputer literacy required-Internet, Microsoft Office, Excel, CRM (Outlook), IPADStrong Mechanical Aptitude is a plusTechnical experience in engineering, power, analytical instrumentation, transportation or similar is desirableTravel - Supports entire SNCETN service area (as needed)Critical Competencies:Business Knowledge:--Instrumentation / Process piping utility fluid systems industry knowledge and Territory Market knowledge, customer focus, ability to demonstrate value in terms of customer's operating expensesCommunication: Listening, oral presentation, written communication, Public Speaking skillsInterpersonal:--Approachability, Nurturing, drive to accomplish established goalsLeadership:--Integrity, flexibility, Character, and possess both Transactional and Transformational Leadership skillsTeamwork:--To be supportive of all company initiatives and other sales associatesThinking:--Decisive, cognitive ability, innovative, solutions-orientedWork Habits:--Results oriented, detail orientation, self motivated, ability to function autonomously, Work with a Sense of UrgencyCompensation: Salary Sales Expenses Covered:Gas - work relatedPhone - must go on Company PlanComputerCustomer Entertainment - Lunches, Breakfast etc.
