ResourceTek, the Human Capital division of an ENR-ranked,
multi-discipline engineering firm, delivers specialized technical
services to industrial and government sectors across engineering,
construction, and related fields. We are currently seeking a
Facilities Project Engineer to support operations at an
international OEM automotive manufacturing plant in Southern Middle
Tennessee. This is a full-time, on-site role supporting facility
systems, infrastructure integration, and capital improvement
projects for an initial 24-month assignment with strong potential
for direct hire. Job Summary As a Facilities Project Engineer, you
will serve as an on-site technical representative and project
leader supporting the execution of facility and infrastructure
projects within an operational automotive manufacturing
environment. This role requires strong coordination with OEM
production teams, equipment suppliers, contractors, and
cross-functional engineers. Your primary focus will be on
maintaining operational continuity while executing upgrades,
expansions, and process-supporting infrastructure projects. Key
Responsibilities Act as the technical field lead for facility and
infrastructure projects supporting manufacturing lines, utilities,
and process equipment Coordinate with Production, Maintenance,
Facilities Engineering, and Safety teams to define and validate
scopes of work Oversee on-site execution of projects including
contractor coordination, safety compliance, and schedule adherence
Support installation and integration of mechanical, electrical, and
civil systems in alignment with manufacturing requirements Perform
daily field walks and construction reviews to ensure compliance
with specifications, standards, and plant requirements Interface
with OEM engineering teams, suppliers, and installation contractors
to resolve design and field issues in real-time Participate in
commissioning activities, punch list development, and system
turnover documentation Provide technical feedback during the design
phase on constructability, sequencing, and manufacturability Ensure
all plant-based construction activities are aligned with production
operations, minimizing downtime Track project progress, change
orders, and report on-site activity to senior engineering
leadership Required Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical,
Electrical, Civil, or Industrial Engineering from an
ABET-accredited program 5 years of experience in field engineering
or project execution within an industrial or automotive
manufacturing environment Strong understanding of manufacturing
plant systems, including utilities, structural interfaces, and
production equipment requirements Hands-on experience with
contractor oversight, site safety protocols, and field-level
problem solving Ability to read and interpret multi-discipline
construction and manufacturing drawings (MEP, structural,
architectural) Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project tracking
tools such as MS Project Capable of working independently in a
fast-paced manufacturing setting with limited supervision Strong
communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across
departments Preferred Qualifications Experience in the automotive
or Tier 1 manufacturing sector Knowledge of facility and utility
systems such as HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, and power
distribution Familiarity with IBC, NEC, NFPA, and OSHA construction
safety standards OSHA 10 or 30 Hour Certification Experience with
AutoCAD and field layout tools Familiarity with delivery methods
such as Design-Build, GMP, or EPC Compensation & Benefits
