    • Possess a thorough understanding of local/regional/federal regulations and company policy
    • Enhance a company-wide safety program to improve a Safety Third culture and reduce/eliminate preventable
    • Develop Safety Policies and Procedures, while collaborating with other Departments as necessary to ensure continuity
    • Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Company Safety
    • Support customer safety requirements and develop programs to ensure
    • Partner with Warehouse Operations, Retail Operations, and HR Business Partners to facilitate post-accident/incident/crash Root Cause Analysis identifying corrective and preventative actions
    • Partner with departments on the claims reporting inclusive of Cargo (personal property), Worker's Comp as appropriate
    • Prepare action plans to decrease risk factors
    • Identify Safety and Financial risks that the organization may face
    • Make risk-avoiding recommendations to current methods of operations in order to minimize their future risks
    • Provide training and certification for organization staff so that they can be aware of risks and try to avoid them
    • Conducts risk assessments, collecting and analyzing documentation, statistics, reports, and market trends
    • Establishes policies and procedures to identify and address risks in the organizations services and departments
    • Reviews and assesses risk policies and protocols; makes recommendations and implements modifications and improvements
    • Recommends and implements risk management style solutions such as safety policies, business continuity plans, or recovery measures
    • Drafts and presents risk reports and proposals to executive leadership and director level staff
    • Ensure all employees/new hires have been trained on company safety policies and procedures
    • Measure sites' performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies
    • Deliver on-time and quality projects to Operations
    • Analyze safety metrics and review incident weekly and monthly incident trends to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest
    • Perform frequent site safety audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site. Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent
    • Audit recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance to company safety standards and local, regional, and federal regulations
    • Audit the workplace organization and staff behaviors to ensure that training, auditing, and scoring methods are accurate and consistent
    • Spend time at the distribution centers and retail locations to seek input from management and staff on safety program improvement opportunities. Ensure open communication on status of progress and resolution against these suggestions
    • Ensure management and staff are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities under each policy. Audit the quality, delivery, and effectiveness of all required safety training
    • Provide updates for any pending hazardous weather, road conditions, or other safety issues which has the potential to affect the DC Operations, Retail Location or Corporate Offices
    • Be the DSG liaison and provide correspondence to Federal, State and Local Regulatory Agencies including OSHA, EPA, FMCSA, and Fire Marshals as needed
    • Performs other duties as directedKNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
      • High school diploma required
      • Bachelor's degree in safety and ergonomics or extensive experience in related field required
      • 7+ years of experience managing a transportation and warehousing focused safety program
      • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment
      • Experience managing multiple locations
      • Vast knowledge of OSHA, FMCSA and other Federal authorities and the how those regulations are utilized and affect the DC Operations, Retail Locations and Corporate Offices and their teams
      • Must be flexible regarding shifts
      • Distribution Center Safety experience with mix of exempt and non-exempt employees
      • Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization
      • Certified Safety Professional preferred
      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with management team
      • Ability to develop and implement department goals and strategies with others as a team including those holding divergent and/or opposing views and goals
      • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem solving ability
      • Ability to adapt well to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and
      • Lytx and GeoTab knowledge preferred
      • Ability to develop, coach, and mentor others including the ability to provide development experiences and network opportunities, advise, and teach to prepare others for effective job performance
