Job Description:
Job Description Assists OB/GYN physician or Nurse Practitioner
in performing office examinations. Administers prescribed
medications, simple treatment and therapeutic procedures as
directed by OB/GYN physician. Gathers patient information and
conducts limited evaluation as required. Assists with patient and
family education independently or as delegated by the OB/GYN
physician. Cleans and stocks patient exam rooms. Assists with
routine office examinations and procedures; maintains/updates
patient charts and other patient care documents. A. According to
established protocols, performs procedures or assists with
procedures as directed by the OB/GYN physician; measured through
physician observation and manager---s random review of patient
charts. B. Administers injections and/or medications as ordered by
the OB/GYN physician or NP according to office protocols; measured
by physician observation and manager---s review of patient charts.
C. According to established procedure, documents all patient
interaction, tracks and attaches laboratory and diagnostic test
results to patient chart and communicates results and orders to
patients as directed by the OB/GYN physician as measured by
manager---s random chart review and observation by physician. D.
According to established office procedures, schedules ancillary
tests for patients, documents in log and insures receipt of report.
Schedules and pre-certifies surgical cases for physician.
Communicates results and surgery information to patient per
physician direction as measured by physician or manager review of
log and observation by physician. E. Calls approved prescriptions
to pharmacies as measured by manager---s random chart review,
telephone log and observation by the physician. F. Prepares charts
for next day patient volume, forwards obstetrical records to labor
and delivery according to practice management appointment schedule
and obstetrical patient delivery date as measured by physician
observation of medical record and physician office obstetrical
records on file in labor and delivery. G. Responds to patient
questions, concerns and problems; provides education and support to
patient---s families as directed by OB/GYN physician. H. Resolves
patient and family calls, advising within the scope of HIPAA
Privacy Act and the Nurse Practice Act in collaboration with OB/GYN
physician as measured through manager---s observations and feedback
physician and manager obtains from random consultation with
patient/families. I. Distributes and explains the appropriate
patient/family education material and provides education and
support to patient/family as directed by the OB/GYN physician;
measured through physician observation and feedback manager obtains
from random consultation with patient/family or random chart
review. K. Insures cleanliness of equipment and exam rooms;
facilitates or completes the purchase of supplies. L. Insures the
cleanliness and preparedness of exam rooms before each use in
accordance with infection control principles and standard office
procedures as measured by observation by OB/GYN physician and
manager. M Disinfects patient rooms and sterilizes equipment and
instruments according to office schedule, procedures and/or
manufacturers recommendations as observed by OB/GYN physician and
review of control logs. N. Orders medical supplies/pharmaceuticals,
verifying accuracy of order upon receipt, to maintain minimum
inventory and appropriate level of preparedness of exam rooms as
measured by exam room inventory check off list or physician
observation. O. Demonstrate complete integrity and accuracy in
performance of tests and reporting results. Q. Evaluates
suitability of specimens as documented in daily logs, maintains log
of tests ordered, locates and obtains missing reports as measured
by physician review of lab log and chart review and physician
observation. R. Maintains an error rate at or below physician
office lab guidelines and has no clinically significant incidents
as determined by Office Medical Director and/or Technical
Consultant review. S. Documents quality assurance checks,
calibrations and standards in accordance to standards of lab tests
performed; as monitored by physician or manager random review of
logs. T. Collects and handles specimens. V. Without exception,
labels specimens correctly and documents on appropriate patient
logs as monitored by manager audits of specimen labels and logs and
from physician and patient feedback. W. Performs instrument
maintenance and instrument/method troubleshooting. X. Performs or
schedules maintenance according to office schedule and established
procedures or manufacturers recommendations (if applicable) as
determined by manager review of maintenance records. Y. Promptly
identifies and resolves problems using appropriate resources as
determined by manager observation. Z. Documents maintenance/repairs
as determined by manager review of maintenance records. Job Type:
