Position Summary: To provide high quality imaging procedures to our
patients and physicians in a respectful and efficient manner while
providing those services in a safe and clean environment. Position
Requirements: Formal Education / Training: Earned a Radiologic
Technology diploma or degree from a college or university. Must be
in compliance with CE Requirements. BLS required within 90 days of
hire. Workplace Experience: Preference of at least three years work
experience in clinic setting, after graduation and accreditation;
however, willing to train. Equipment and Skills Training: Possesses
general knowledge of C-arm and x-ray equipment and computers. Will
train on specific equipment and processes utilized at Bone and
Joint Institute. In addition, has had previous training in
fluoroscopy, procedures, and routine studies and willing to perform
those functions daily. Physical Environment: Radiation safety and
universal precautions practiced in a multimodality imaging
department. Physical Effort: Possesses the ability to perform
multifunctional tasks to include: physically manipulate and operate
equipment, assist in the movement of patients from wheelchairs and
stretchers to table; bend, twist, stoop; lift 20 pounds;
communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing; make appropriate
judgement decisions in urgent or emergency situations; and
demonstrate emotional stability and psychological health in day to
day interaction with fellow employees, patients, their families,
and physicians. Performance Standards Key Results: Checks patient
identification and physician order to ensure accuracy of request
before proceeding with study. Questions female patients (ages
12-50) regarding the possibility of pregnancy and properly
documents information in record. Consistently wears radiation
dosimeter badge and turns it in at the designated time frame.
Provides proper radiation safety protection for all persons, to
include self. Follows ALARA, IMAGE GENTLY AND IMAGE WISELY. Assists
physiatry provider with pain procedures by successful operation of
fluoroscopy (C-arm) machine. Works collaboratively with radiology
coordinator/manager to ensure proper fluoroscopy protocols are up
to date and followed. Assists with cross training of at least one
additional fluoroscopy tech to cover during absence. Shows
leadership and teamwork in difficult situations and makes
appropriate decisions. Volunteers for overtime and fill-in when
needed. Ensures the safety of patients by following all safety
procedures while moving patients from wheelchair or stretcher to
table and observing patient while on radiology table/procedure
table. Performs high quality studies consistently. Works well with
fellow employees to provide the most efficient use of the equipment
and ensures that all requests from physicians and patients are
completed.
