Description:POSITION SUMMARYThe Payroll and Benefits Specialist
is responsible for the planning, organization, preparation,
analysis, and processing of Harmon Scrap Metal's payroll and
benefits functions while ensuring compliance with government
regulations and corporate policy. Functions as a People and Culture
liaison in regards to all things payroll and benefits related.

OBJECTIVES
- Collects and compiles key HR metrics and data from a variety of
sources, including human resource information systems (HRIS) and
payroll outputs, benefits enrollment records, management and
employee surveys, exit interviews, personnel records, government
labor statistics, and other sources.
- Identifies and recommends reasonable short- and long-term
goals, milestones, and benchmarks for key performance metrics.
- Based on metrics and analysis, makes recommendations for
policies and activities to improve existing metrics including
changes to benefits, leave, and compensation offerings.
- Oversee the administration of benefit programs and ensure the
enrolment of all eligible employees
- Manage payroll and benefits policies and procedures for our
company
- Research or coordinates with appropriate executive team members
to research alternatives for health, wellness, and retirement plans
and benefit providers.
- Facilitates implementation of new benefits plans, wellness
programs and other related initiatives.
- Conduct regular training to educate employees about benefit
plans and answer any questions they might have
- Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations and best
practices.
- Act as a liaison between employees and benefit carriers during
the benefit claim process
- Processes payroll and prepares payroll reports.
- Processing liability and take out checks post payroll
- Monthly/Quarterly annual tax reports review
- Annual preparation of W-2's
- Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll
transactions; ensure compliance with federal, state, and local
payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
- Enter, maintain, and process information may include employee's
hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation
updates, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and
withholding, terminations, changes, and other relevant employee

- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to think individually as well as collaboratively when
approaching personnel issues
- Ability to read, interpret, and create documents such as safety
rules, procedure manuals, and written correspondence
- Proven ability to assist People & Culture Manager EDUCATION &
EXPERIENCE
- High School Diploma; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 3-4 years of experience in Benefits and Payroll or similar
role
- Experience with Paylocity payroll system PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods on uneven
surfaces
- Work environment involves frequent and/or regular exposure to
natural and unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic
chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or
loud noises
- Ability to spend prolonged periods of time sitting at a desk
