The Transportation Coordinator supports the team by taking customer requests, supporting the team of drivers, maintaining inventory movement, monitoring available equipment, and reviewing/processing paperwork and reports.ABOUT HARMON SCRAP METALWe are Harmon Scrap Metal, we recycle by processing scrap metal, and we are growing by the day. • Process customer requests for service
• Maintain inventory of metal that is brought in and shipped out of all the yard locations
• Dispatch and support drivers effectively routing drivers throughout the day to ensure efficient and timely deliveries by setting next day schedule in Transportation Dispatch System
• Assist drivers with transportation operations by communicating efficiently and effectively both verbally and in writing
• Review and process paperwork
• Negotiate rates and book loads with 3rd Party Carriers, as needed & approved

• Attend and participate in internal meetings and complete required training
• Performs other related duties as assigned by managementKEY COMPETENCIES
  • Knowledge of DOT Regulations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills and a working knowledge of MS Office Suite and Google Suite
  • Ability to think individually as well as collaboratively when approaching job responsibilities
  • Prior scrap industry background preferred
  • Ability to work various shifts as needed and as assigned by the Transportation Supervisor
  • Ability to pay attention to detail
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service
  • Strong problem-solving ability and good judgement during stressful time sensitive events
  • Ability to use in-house systems
    
    Requirements:
    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
    • High School diploma or equivalent
    • 3+ years of dispatch experience
    • Knowledge of scrap metal recycling industryPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
      • Ability to spend extended periods of time sitting at a desk and working on a computer
      • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods on uneven surfaces
      • Work environment involves frequent and/or regular exposure to natural and unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
      • This position will require travel - up to 25%BENEFITS
