Full-Time Evening Electrical and Plumbing Technology
Faculty(NCCER)
TheTennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is
accepting applicationsfor full-time evening faculty in the
Electrical and Plumbing Technologyprogram. The Electrical and
Plumbing Technology faculty is responsible to the VicePresident of
Instruction and Accreditation for the development,
implementation,evaluation, modification, and operation of the EPT
program.
RequiredQualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum three (3) years of experience in the building construction
field (electrical and plumbing), preferably within the last five
(5) years.
Must be available for evening instruction, Monday-Thursday from
3:30 - 9:30 pm
PreferredQualifications:
Post-secondary Skilled Trades credential from an accredited
institution.
Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students.
Responsibilities and Duties include:
TheElectrical and Plumbing Technology faculty is responsible for
providingindividualized theory and hands-on instruction to adult
and high school studentsto prepare them for employment in the
field. Areas of instruction include basicsafety, hand tools, power
tools, materials handling, plan codes and layout,conduit bending,
plumbing, pressure systems, drain, waste and vent, electricaland
plumbing rough-in and finish. The EPT faculty must monitor, grade,
andevaluate individual student progress; maintain student records
in the college'sstudent records management software; maintain
appropriate documentation; submittimely reports; and assist in
recruitment of new students and placement ofgraduates. The EPT
faculty must also maintain good public relations withbusiness and
industry, maintain an active advisory committee and cooperate
withoutside agencies. This position will also supervise and
follow-up on studentsparticipating in cooperative education.
Skills:
Must show evidence of good character, organizational skills, and
mature attitude.
Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and
maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
Must possess computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Must possess the communication skills necessary to be an effective
teacher and interact with high school and adults.
Strong hands-on technical background in the field.
Must possess a high degree of knowledge in the following areas:
basic safety, hand tools, power tools, construction drawings,
plumbing, pressure systems, drain, waste and vent, electrical and
plumbing rough-in and finish.
PhysicalQualifications:
Bending, sitting, and squatting in order to demonstrate skills on
EPT equipment
Communicating for extended periods while lecturing
Sitting at a computer for extended periods to enter data
Lifting 50 lbs.
Salary Range:
This is an exempt position. Salary is commensurate witheducation
and experience according to salary guidelines established by
theTennessee Board of Regents.
