Location: Hixson Blvd. Lebanon, TN 2nd Shift M-TH 4:00p-2:30a
$23.00/hr (Base Pay $20.00 + Shift Differential $3.00) General
Summary . The Computer Technician 5 (EMR5) description applies to
varied job functions in our facility; all with similar levels of
skill required, responsibilities, and expectations. The EMR5 is
responsible for tearing down and replacing parts in systems. An
EMR5 will trouble shoot, diagnose, and determine the most
cost-effective course to repair hardware and software issues for a
wide range of Tablets, Notebooks, Desktops, and Servers dependent
on which Line of Business the Teammate is assigned to. Key job
functions include EG1 GDO (Fallout), EG3 CFS (L3 Fallout, L4
Validation Tech), and EG3 CONUS (Fallout) and CFS (L4 Cabling).
This position will be responsible for ..
- Ability to run production in Burn area to fill in if
needed.
- Communicates with operators from other shifts.
- Comply with OSHA and MSDS standards.
- Diagnose and determine issues with system that s needed to be
routed to EMR for repair..
- Moves product to storage areas with proper equipment and
efficiently stack and store the merchandise in the appropriate
area. May pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of
merchandise to be shipped.
- Operates any material handling equipment safely and efficiently
as required. May use radio frequency equipment or picking,
receiving, and storing functions, as required. May drive factory
vehicles, forklifts and pallet jacks.
- Ability to Cross train teammates in all currently responsible
roles.
- Operates within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job
Safety Analysis (JSAs).
- Participates in physical inventories.
- Performs labeling, sorting, wrapping, packing, and repacking as
needed.
- Provides on-the-job training to new teammates.
- Training Burn techs to understand more failure types and how to
proceed with specific failures. (Route to Staging and back to Burn
to reset BOM, Rest unit, route to EMR for hardware failure).
- Performs cosmetic repairs on Notebooks, Desktops, and LFF
systems
- Ability to utilize the Dell Password Reset utility to unlock
units that have bios password locks.
- Evaluate and determine course of action for systems that have
failed in Burn.
- May be required to review submitted etching graphics for
defects and inform support group of issues.
- Responsible for plugging in units into the correct cabling
types and running the appropriate software Keys.
- May be responsible for physical installation of Servers into
Designated Cabinets.
- Ability to distinguish the difference between Software and
Hardware related issues and Diagnosing failures to determine best
course for repair.
- Choose systems for repair in alignment with Factory Aging
objectives (FIFO).
- Determines the most cost-effective course of repair and updates
disposition of systems.
- Determining what errors and cosmetic findings in Final
Inspection are to be routed back to EMR for repair or not routed
then repaired and returned to Final Inspection.
- Extensive BOM configuration for families in your responsible
LOB.
- Prioritize Exchange and Customization Work Order Requests.
- Trouble shoots and diagnoses hardware and software issues for a
wide range of systems (Notebooks, Desktops, and LFF).
- May be required to follow detailed drawings or diagrams that
show paths to correctly cable a server rack.
- May be required to follow a Work Order that gives details on
which cables to plug into specific ports on several machines.
- Logging any quality or process findings discovered into the
correct databases.
- Determining when an issue is an Engineering issue and provide
details for Engineering Department to investigate.
- Perform server configuration and initialization.
- Provide support as required for New Product launches.
- Resolve advanced failures escalated by other technicians.
- Trouble shoots and diagnoses hardware and software issues for a
wide range of systems (Large Form Factor, Commercial and consumer
grade Desktops, Notebooks, tablets).
- Responsible for addressing and solving production exceptions
for your designated LOB.
- Completes daily repair logs.
- Install and remove server testing hosts, cabling, and
monitoring equipment in server cabinets.
- Monitor Teammates in Final Inspection and Boxing to ensure work
is being done properly and correct any issues that impact Key
metrics like Aging, Quality, and ULH.
- Monitors inventory for aging to ensure systems are being turned
in proper time.
- Perform preventative maintenance and 5S on server cabinets
including cabling, installation hardware, and monitoring
equipment.
- Timely communication with Management, Engineers, and Quality
Control to resolve complex failures. You might be a great fit if .
Education/Experience
- High school diploma or GED and 2-4 years of relevant
experience.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Strong PC skills (Word and Excel).
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and handle multiple
functions, or tasks.
- May be A+ certified.
- Technical ability to trouble shoot, diagnose and repair
systems.
- Familiarity with materials handling and radio frequency
equipment is beneficial
